Your Community is Important.. Place Matters.
In 2007, the Center for Fair Housing deemed it necessary to create an Accessibility Department to broaden our reach to disabled persons to address growing reports of discrimination.
Individuals experiencing discrimination and or having difficulty finding
accessible housing could now receive assistance from a dedicated staff
member. The accessibility specialist educated the community at large
on their housing rights while also educating housing laws around
accessibility, design, and construction in housing.
The accessibility department provides brochures, written materials, conducts group workshops, training for social service organizations and conducts investigations around compliance and discrimination for persons with disabilities.
